A young Dutchman with four CD's to his credit, this debut CD for the distinguished Dutch jazz label Criss Cross is his best. It finds him in the company of two different groups, one a quartet with piano, the other a trio. Of the ten tunes represented only one is original, the others are lesser known but SUBSTANTIAL tunes from composers as gifted and diverse as Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, Lee Konitz and Thelonious Monk. This is one of the best "straight" jazz guitar albums to come out in quite some time."
