Budget Collection Of Remakes
Boomertunes | Illinois USA | 01/01/2009
(4 out of 5 stars)

"When an artist records for several labels during the course of a career(in this case Challenge, Mercury, Liberty, Decca, United Artists, and MCA), it is usually impossible to find a complete collection of all hit songs.

As a result, the artist goes back and re-records material to keep the catalog available to the public.

This ten song King CD release, "Jerry Wallace Greatest Hits", features decent remakes of his signature songs previously unavailable together in the compact disc format. Jerry is in fine voice and the production is appropriate.

His early pop hits from 1958-1965 are represented by "How The Time Flies", "Primrose Lane", "There She Goes', "Shutters And Boards", "In the Misty Moonlight", and "Life's Gone And Slipped Away".

The revisited country hits from 1972 and 1973 are "To Get To You", "If You Leave Me Tonight I'll Cry", "Do You Know What It's Like To Be Lonesome", and "Don't Give Up On Me".

If you have to have the originals, this won't be your cup of tea.

If you enjoy hearing decent recreations by the artist after he's lived with the material for awhile, you might want to give this set a try."
