(4 out of 5 stars)

"Jenny Evans was born and raised in England. But she is now living for more than twenty years in Munich, Germany. She is gifted in many areas of art. One of them is jazz singing. She performed with musicians like Benny Bailey, Al Grey and Buddy Tate. Town of Munich in 1987 awarded her with the prestigious Prize of Interpretative Arts. They way she sings is "old-fashioned" in the best meaning of the word. She is singing, the phrases are well rounded and the diction is excellent. The standards like opener, famous D. Ellington "I'am gonna go Fishin', or "Angel eyes" are with sufficient personal touch. But I call the attention of two originals written by famous European jazz trumpet player Dusko Goykovich (once with W. Herman, now Croatian citizen). Jenny adds nice texts. The only one song in German: "Fuer eine Nacht voller Seligkeit" is well incorporated in this CD made live in March 2000 at the Jazzclub Unterfahrt, Munich. Excellent musical support comes from quintet. My attention calls Walter Lang on piano and Peter O'Mara on guitars. Closing this short impression about this fine CD I always put me a question. In the World we have so much very fine artists, but only some of them are known broader. This is a sad thing."
