CD Reviews

Great Eupopean disco sound
11/05/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Jennifer Rush has a fabolous voice. She is better than Mariah
Carey and Celine Dion. This CD is a great combination of
dance tunes and ballads. "Ave Maria" is a great disco dance
song and it has to be heard to believe. Jennifer Rush's music
is very unique and voice and very strong. Do yourself a favor
and get into Jennifer Rush you will be so glad you discovered
her"
Great early album of a powerful, soulful voice

"If you're looking for early Jennifer Rush tracks (wether already a fan or on the way to becoming one), this is one of them. Alltime favorites include Destiny, Live Wire, If you're ever..., Ave Maria & Hero of a fool. Other early albums are: Jennifer Rush (from 1985) that includes Madonna's Eyes, 25 Lovers, Ring of Ice, The Power of Love (which she co-wrote & which catapulted her into the Guinness Book of Records!) a.s.o. & Heart over mind (from 1987) that includes I come undone, Heart over mind, Flames of Paradise, Call my name a.s.o. Those 2 are a little harder to find, but not impossible & well worth it. This is, as already mentioned in other JR reviews, one of the best & colorful voices around, but unfortunately not well known in the U.S. That might be due to bad promotion & marketing, but after almost 20 years of JR (!), her songs are still as refreshing & timeless as they were when first released (back in the day, when I was just a teen & living in Germany at the time). This phenomenal singer with her bombastic voice really isn't getting her fair share "over here" (even though she's a New Yorker), but is known & loved throughout the rest of the world. For all those who credit Celine Dion for The Power of Love: please listen to JR's version, the original & one & only. You'll hear, what I mean - Dion's doesn't even compare to JR's! If you're looking for great vocals, tunes that're not necessarily mainstream & just plain a feast for your ears, mind & soul, get all of Jen's CD's - I promise you won't regret it. After all this time, they're still one of my fav's & compared to today's kiddie-pop/rock out there a revival of "good 80's & 90's" tracks. Maybe one of show biz' best kept secrets, but definetely a keeper. BTW, there are a couple of neat web sites out there about JR, one even endorsed by JR herself! Keep up the great work, Jenny & rock on!"
Fantastic voice

"I am more of a classical music lover than a pop-rock buff, but this singer got me hooked the first time I heard "Madonna's Eyes". Her voice is impressive and truly magnetic. The biggest hit on this her second album was Destiny, but much of the album was successful, with the concluding ballad "Hero of a fool" being the great secret you just have to discover.

Jen's third and fifth albums "Heart over Mind" and "Wings of Desire" didn't do much for me, but "Passion" (4th) was excellent, as was her first album, "Jennifer Rush"."
