Synopsis

Product Description
Triumph of the Spirit' marked an evolution in Jeffrey Fisher's career as a composer, presenting music born of an unprecedented collaboration with Taos, NM-based painter Charles Collins and his Between Worlds collection of paintings. With this album, Fisher delivers five breathtaking works, creating symphonic poetry, enlivening Collin's paintings with sound. 'Triumph' resonates with the winsome spiritual tone of Collins' paintings, playing with light, layers, translucence and timelessness. For Collins, one of New Mexico's most celebrated artists, this series of paintings also signified a great breakthrough: his revival of the transparent glazes of the ancient masters, which allowed him to visually express different layers of reality. All in all, this is a remarkable and historic collaboration to be explored by art and music lovers alike.

JEFFREY FISHER CREATES CONTEMPORARY CLASSICAL SOUNDS ON TRIU

"JEFFREY FISHER

TRIUMPH OF THE SPIRIT

I hope you do not have any pre-conceived ideas about modern-classical (or neo-classical) music because the CD Triumph of the Spirit by Jeffrey Fisher will probably make you toss those notions out the window. This music falls into that contemporary classical category only due to the fact that the sounds of the instrumentation are that of a symphony orchestra. So what else could you call the music? But be aware that Fisher's influences range far beyond Beethoven and Tchaikovsky so that the music will include a bit of 12-bar-blues one moment, a passage inspired by jazz innovator John Coltrane the next, subtle pop-rock motifs here and there, and meditative new age stylings as well. You might also be surprised at the symphonic instruments that Fisher brings forward to solo (ones, like bassoon, that you don't hear out in front that often).

Fisher also aims high with the feelings behind the music. According to his written materials, he strives to reflect humankind's consciousness and progress to enlightenment. Wow! So sit back, relax and let the orchestral sounds of Fisher's CD swirl around you. These are Fisher's original compositions presented within a traditional symphonic framework with a few twists. This is definitely exciting modern music. Check your preconceptions at the door.
