CD Reviews

More ear candy for lovers of America, Beach Boys, Folgelberg

"Larson's last two efforts (Watercolor Sky, Sepia) were both outstanding, polished albums with Hank Linderman at the helm. This album is more "raw" and stripped down in style. More of Jeff's contemporary edge comes through on Two Part Confessional, as if Linderman is giving him more production input in the final mixes. "Looking at December" has more of a solo acoustic singer-songwriter sound than we heard before. "Maybe Cascade Idaho" fully has that Beach Boys/Brian Wilson sound Jeffery Foskett brings to the table and as such, more of a Foskett than Linderman sound. "A Better Day" sounds more like an America song than Gerry Beckley has done in decades, and since he co-wrote and sang strong backing vocals, it really bears his presence well. "The Way Outside" recalls 1973 Eagles/Walsh/Fogelberg ballads, which Linderman has successfully duplicated with his production style. "Play Through" has a AAA radio sound to it, with expressive acoustic guitars and simple tight e.guitar, drums & bass. "Only Green" is a beautiful ballad (i.e. Souveniers), and the electic guitar production is remeniscent of Bruce Gaitsch (Richard Marx, Timothy Schmit) on some of his solo work. A surprise addition comes after the end, as a short instrumental ensues, no doubt the type of thing that usually winds up on the cutting room floor. All in all a very satisfying group of songs, not a bad one in the lot, which I find amazing in today's music."
Short but Sweet ~ Captivating & Refreshing to say the Least!

"
Hi ~ I have had this cd from it's release, and I have Hit the Replay on these songs many times. Jeff's way with his Music & Lyrics never ceases to amaze me, I love the freshness and free flowing rythmn magic found in them. Looking at December~is a pick me up song, it carries me nicely, the lyrics and the music nicely spell out the title. Cascade Idaho~has a nice raw edge, a good beat too, and Jeff's way of singing it gives you a feel for it all. Jeff definitely has a way of painting a visual with his lyrics. Better Day ~ Is a real toe tapping song, Gerry Beckley of AMERICA wrote and performs this song with Jeff. I like everything about it, music, lyrics, the vocal harmonies, the message this song leaves me with is nice too. The Way Outside ~ I love this song, Jeff works his magic on this song for sure, I love the lyrics, I love the way the music gives me the feel for the Inspiration found in these lyrics. The visual I am left with from this song is very comforting. Play Through ~ Another up beat song, I can get lost in this great song, Jeff's way with his songs can do that to me nicely. Great acoustics in this song! Only Green ~ This song shows Jeff's softer side, I love the rich by gentle acoustics, I love how the Lyrics can capture me inside nicely. Then there is a nice all music ending piece and it has a way of winding down this magic nicely. Like I said this EP is short but sweet, I am sure it will leave you wanting to hear more, just the way it does me. I look forward to the release of Jeff's next CD Swimming in the Make Believe coming real soon. If you are familiar with Jeff's music, you will love having this one in your collection, if you have never heard any of Jeff's music, then how about giving this a try. I am sure you will enjoy it! Thanks ~ See ya, Nancy Holtz :)"

"I first heard Jeff by chance when looking for new music on Amazon, I have bought all of his albums. I just love what he does, & he just gets better all the time. I have looked at the reviews & find it hard to work out why he isn't more popular in his own country. This CD is as good as any he has done, infact it might be the best so far."
