"Virgin Records Captain American Show assessed this album of the year, and if it's not on the nail, it's close enough. Why Finlin gets the love of Brittania and is not known in the USofA, where he writes, sings and performs is beyond me. Beat, poetic, raw, rock 'em country folk, alt country, can't say exactly where he fits, but he fits like a glove on a rough hand. Extraordinary music, compelling lyricist, dark and funny, smooth and (er) edgy. A mystery, but also a no miss. Don't hesitate."

"This is probably the best Jeff Finlin album I've purchased and I have 5 of his albums. Somewhere South of Wonder has a bunch of strong songs with great production and arrangements. It is a good balance of rock and ballads. Jeff's music sits somewhere between Bob Dylan, Bruce Cockburn and Tom Waits. This is probably the flagship of Jeff's body of work and is a must for any Jeff Finlin convert."
