CD Reviews

Delightful! Especially if you know what you are getting...

"Just wanted to balance the review below, as the poor person who wrote it is sadly mistaken. This is the cast album of the music to accompany the Lincoln Center production that was indeed taped for PBS (which our intrepid reviewer below claims to have admired ). It is not the Trevor Nunn movie soundtrack, and, indeed, comes from a much different interpretation of the play. Modern, yes, but not Rock at all--more along the lines of cutting edge theater music. "O Mistress Mine" in particular is amazing, up there with the best of recent broadway compositions. Would that the round of "Hold Thy Peace" from the show had been included in its entirety, but the CD includes enough to satisfy."
GORGEOUS

"Jeanine Tesori's compositions for this beautiful production of Twelfth Night are a strange mix of many sounds that culminate into a grogeous work of art. Courtly Dance is possibly one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard, and most of the rest of the music is close to the same level. David Patrick Kelly's folk songs are soothing and beautiful and...Oh, just get it. You won't be sorry."
Tesori is a major talent!

"This recording of the music from the Lincoln Center production is eclectic, exciting, haunting and absolutely beautiful. To hear Jeanine's other works, you wouldn't think that they are from the same composer. She is a major talent through so many different styles. For anyone interested in the work of a rising star of theatre composition, you will love this recording. Incidently, I met and talked with Jeanine after a performance of Millie and she is incredibly humble and lovely. I wish her the best in her career."
