"Before he became a fusion god, Ponty was a straight ahead jazzer and a disciple of Grappelli and Venuti. This remarkable cd issue is well re-mastered and presents this early material beautifully. One disc is Ponty's arrangements of Frank Zappa tunes (with whom Ponty served a stint and presumable began to develop his fusion leanings). The other disc showcases mostly Ponty originals in a live setting.This is great stuff!"
