Synopsis

Album Description
Singer, songwriter, guitarist Jayme Kelly Curtis' gutsy, blues-infused vocal style provides an unusual contrast to her acoustic guitar-based original songs about personal transformation and the milestones on the journey of life. Curtis' acoustic guitar and voice form a nucleus complimented by performances by 12 wonderfully diverse musicians, including a Celtic harpist, a jazz pianist, a Winfield fingerpicking champion, a Zydeco accordionist, the one-time Santana rhythm section, and a "shred guitarist" from 80's hair band Y&T. The result is complex yet highly melodic and enjoyable folk/rock tinged with overtones of blues and jazz. . Bay Area rock legend Dave Meniketti (Y&T) engineered and co-produced.

"In A Rushing Stream, is the kind of album that you can share with friends. I own a retail business and whenever the album is playing, people always ask to see the case. A lot of my customers have purchased the album after hearing it in my store. Although every word of the lyrics and every note of music is original, there is nonetheless, a feeling of familiarity, of comfort to Jayme's voice. When I listen to this album, I often think of Carol King,James Taylor or Joni Mitchell. Not because the music sounds like these other artists. Only that these are other artists whose music I was able to listen to repeatedly without growing tired of the music or lyrics. There is wonderful variety to the album's cuts and Jayme's voice has such versatility that I look forward to future explorations. Her lyrics have the ability to create pictures in the mind of the listener. I would love to see videos made from some of the selections, especially Alchemy, Documentary, Shape of Your Heart, and Circle of Joy. Those last two cuts have a deep, joyful, magnetic quality to them. I can tell that Jayme loves the folk rock music ala Joni Mitchell but I would also love to hear her explore the soul qualities that are expressed in Circle of Joy. This album is a keeper."
