CD Reviews

Worldly guitarist ready for Bach
Sean MacLean | Seattle, WA, USA | 03/23/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I discovered this subtle, nuanced guitarist in the moving tribute CD he did to Pat Metheny called "Images of Metheny." There was such respect in his treatment of what he felt was a 'great American songbook' that I couldn't wait to hear how he'd treat some older material. I noticed with delight that the BWV 998 Prelude, Fugue and Allegro was on this new release. That was the first thing I wanted to hear, because so many guitarists run right over the surprise cadences, trick notes, and humor that are integral to Bach's Lautenwerk pieces. As expected, Vieaux makes the most of the juicy details while still holding the architecture of the piece with all pillars intact. A necessary and fresh contribution to the guitar recording collection."
ONE OF THE BEST BACH GUITAR CDs!

"Although that is a bold statement, I personally feel it's true. The music is beautifully executed with wonderful recording quality. Jason's musicianship and abilities are very enthralling. This is my 3rd and favorite CD of Jason's. The performance inspires me to work on additional Bach pieces of my own."
Jason Vieaux master of the guitar.

"This is a really wonderful work by Jason Vieaux. He has a real feel for the baroque period. His tone is deep and rich and really resonates with the Bach pieces. I can't wait for Vol. 2
