"As a youngster I collected most of Jan & Dean's LP releases.

Since CD started I always wanted to have a "greatest hits"

album by Jan & Dean. I tried many of those available but

unluckily they either have only a few with the rest as fillers-

up, mostly bad ones, or lots of nonsense with chats between

alternate takes that do not have any interest. Finally in 1998

a Dutch record company - Disky - compiled a series of "The

Original" dedicated to many other 60's & 70's artists. Most of

them are real treasures like this one. Original stereo cuts

and the best possible selection among so many Jan & Dean songs.

They've picked out 2 or 3 hits from each charted LP and they

did not include any of those "bad" recordings with which they

filled up their later LP's like covers of folk and protest songs.

All but one- Beach Boys' Surfin' Safari - are charted hits

including the forgotten and underestimated "Batman" which has

never been included in any other compilation.

If you are looking for the best Jan & Dean songs, buy this

one because they are all there with the real original

recordings."
