CD Reviews

An excellent, benchmark quality SACD surround disc.

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I completely mirror Skytag's review. Great sound quality with an excellent mix by Nathaniel Kunkel (a talented family, to be sure!). I personally prefer predominantly ambience oriented mixes like this as opposed to a lot of discrete instrument presentation in the surround channels. I want to be listening to the band, not be IN the band. But, to each there own. Also, the often unfortunate use of the Aphex Aurel Exciter during the recording of this album does not seem to have degraded the natural quality of James' voice. This is not a hybrid SACD. A solid 5+."
My Favourite JT Album Has Just Gotten Even Better!

"The sound! The sound! That was the first thing that hit me when I heard this very good mini-lp replica sleeve (mlps) version of my favourite James Taylor album. The remastering is fabulous because I can number on one hand the albums that I've ever heard that sound better than this one. It starts with one of my all-time favourite tracks "Your Smiling Face" and continues with great track after great track. "Handy Man" is the other track that everyone knows but "Secret O'Life", "Terra Nova" with the Carly Simon cameo and "If I Keep My Heart Out of Sight" are also gems to behold.

The mlps design itself is pretty good and despite being made out of thin cardboard it has been assembled well enough to make it a decent product. The inner sleeve that holds the cd is very well designed and a 20-page booklet containing all the lyrics in both Japanese and English is also included.

Overall this is a decent mlps version of a great album and with a good remastering job done the sound quality is very good too.

Recommended!"
