A wonderful collection of Webber's best songs!

"I took this CD out for a run, tonight, after several months of not hearing it, and once I finished with it, I had to review. This is a refreshing effort by the best orchestra leader, in my opinion, in the world. The mixture contained in this gem is tremendous, from the lively and uptempo "Any Dream will Do", with some great piano work, to the only vocal on this recording, "Don't Cry for me, Argentina". This background music is as usual, highlighted, by those trademark strings, simply the best in this world! You will enjoy such popular tracks as "Jesus Christ, Superstar", and "The Phantom of the Opera", as done in a very pleasant way. There is a disc-load of good listening on this recording, very modern and up to date, but watch out, those strings will "get" you!!! Because I am simply too spoiled by having the entire James Last record collection, I cannot give this 5 stars, my tastes are just too darn particular, and there are other albums I love better, many I have reviewed here before. But if you are looking for the absolute best interpretations of Andrew Lloyd Webber, THIS is the ticket!"
