Jallen Rix is one of those rare composing performers who can send a song right where you feel it the most. He digs deep for a balance between art and meaning. Listeners become friends as Jallen plays the piano and sings honest and vulnerable lyrics. Whether at a festival with a full band backing him or at a coffeehouse with his voice and piano, Jallen engages the listener not only with his modern pop stylings, lyrics and stories, but with his energetic and intimate presence. Without a doubt, Jallen's music is dynamic, humorous, creative, and heart-provoking.

"I remember going to the local book/record store in Houston and seeing Jallen's first album, The Queer and The Sacred. I was a fledgling recording artist at the time -- and thought this guy was really cool. I then had the opportunity to do a benefit with him a few years later after I had released my first effort called EVERYBODY ELSE. I came in right before he was leaving after his encore and thought -- This guys is a real classy guy! Some years later (the summer of 1999) . . . I found out about a gig that was being held for The MCC'S World Jubilee in Los Angeles. Jallen -- now a GLAMA nominee -- kindly invited me to come on in and he double billed me besides his name. I will never forget that day. As he was performing, he sang a song of his new album entitled, "TIME ON A CHAIN" (Awesome title by the way!) The song he sang was called -- "BELOVED ONE." I cannot express to you the feelings that poured out of me upon hearing that song. It is a song that speaks of a man's love, devotion and commitment to another man as his LIFE partner. After hearing that song I thought to myself -- I want that song played at my wedding! Then I thought of all the other GLBT people that would want to do the same. It was then that I knew -- Jallen would have a hit on his hands ... and Jallen had done what all recording artists long to do and that is to write not only a classic, but give forth a wonderful contribution for all of humanity. With TIME ON A CHAIN . . . Jallen has not only succeeded in his contribution of great music . . . he has become a role model for other recording artists out there WORLD WIDE that aspire to have a dream, a vision and the guts to turn it into reality. He not only CONSISTENTLY puts out high quality recordings, he also issues music that contains richness, honesty and depth! Jallen is a recording artist we will hear of for some time to come. And folks . . . it's my opinion that the guy is only just warming up! Watch and see! Way to go Jallen! Way to go!Christian Andreason -- Recording Artist --"

"I was wowed by Jallen's first album and blown away by his second. I'm especially impressed with his very powerful lyrics - thought provoking, fun, romantic all rolled into one. "Beloved" on Time on a Chain is at the top of my personal list."

"Jallen has once again put into words feelings that all can relate too! You don't have to be from any one group of people to appreciate his music and lyrics. His song writing style is mature and emotional and sure to move you if you have ever been in love. From "Time on a Chain" the title track, which is about forgetting clocks and watches and enjoying each others company to "Friend" a song about the special people we have in our lives, Jallen weaves a spell that you can't help but fall into! From someone who is a very big Sting fan, Jallen's cover of "Message in a Bottle" has a groove that takes it to new places and made me fall in love with it all over again! If you only buy three Cd's this year "Time on a Chain" should definately be one of them!"
