CD ReviewsHumane master of the sardonic Brian Pickering | Spain | 08/08/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "Jake Thackray's lyrics are literate and his music is melodic and stylish. These are not fashionable qualities but if wit and style have any meaning, this is where you come to hear them. Thackray has the audacity to suggest that women are garrulous, sex is fun and people enjoy themselves quietly in eccentric and humane ways without reference to the Social Services. I have been trying to work out why this is not folk music and all I can say is that he does not take his work seriously and he treats us like adult human beings. That is art but not the lah di dah sort.."
