Fans of Jacob Moon's solo acoustic shows now have good reason to celebrate. "Landing" has landed. Recorded live in May before a spellbound audience in Hamilton, this remarkable CD documents an artist at one with his fans and his craft. Intense and emotionally raw, this collection has many new Jacob Moon songs, some old ones, and re-workings of everything from old gospel to Paul Simon. Jacob is also joined on several tracks by singer -songwriter Lisa Winn and gospel choristers Marion Clarke, Juliet Clarke and Chantal Hendricks. "Landing" was recorded at Catherine North Recording Studio, an old church converted into an open- concept studio. An all-analog approach was taken to the recording and Glen Marshall, the engineer on the project, made good use of the room and his collection of classic tube microphones, making everything sound warm, spacious and rich with detail. The Lanois Connection: This concert was videotaped by Bob Lanois and will be released on DVD later this year. Lanois has shot footage for such artists as Emmylou Harris, Bruce Cockburn and Willie Nelson, and served as art director on the "Landing" layout. Lanois' work and excitement for this project amounts to a major endorsement from an industry veteran, and, according to Moon, "he has taken my record to another level completely". Creative Fan Financing: To help finance this CD, Moon went to his usual backers--his fans. For the last two albums, he has offered fans the chance to place a pre-order for the CD, which meant that they got first crack at it upon its release(with their names in the liners, of course), and Moon got much-needed seed money to finish the job. This time out, each person who attended the sold out shows paid $25 for admission and a pre-ordered CD; a steal when you consider what they got in return. Not only did fans get to witness a live recording in an idyllic setting, they could look forward to a special-edition commemorative CD, complete with extended liner notes, including a cool collage of the fans from each night and their names in the booklet.
