CD Reviews

An Elegant Discourse On The Human Condition It's Not
John Terry | Kansas City, Mo | 05/05/2010
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Jesse James Dupree isn't out to change the world. He doesn't really think that rock music can bring about world peace. He does however believe that loud rock and roll music can set you free, give you an excuse to have fun and go a little crazy. He could also care less about fitting in and rather or not he is fawned over by critics. Heck, he won't even explain "Just Like A Negro" to those who choose to be offended. If you don't take the time to investigate the lyrics and find about the song's origins, he figures the heck with you. Only Jesse wouldn't say heck. If you like it loud and fast with a little southern fried attitude, my advice to you is to buy this album, GET MAD AT IT and turn it up to eleven."
Jackyl keeps the rock going strong
Christopher Trott | Las Vegas, NV | 05/05/2010

"I liked their album "Relentless" slightly better, but this one is a close second. It's heavy, its rock, its Jackyl! Recommended if you like your rock heavy with a twist of southern charm."
JACKYL back in from the cold
Don C | Albany, NY | 05/21/2010

"If you like Jackyl, you will love this.. Probably closer to 4.5 stars but I have a soft spot for these southern rockers. They always have a way of puttin a smile on my face. Makes me proud to be a white boy. Just very glad to have something new again from the band, but didnt expect it to be excellent. I am very pleased.

The title track is great! Excellent southern tinged drinking song. JJD sings it excellent as well. 'She's not a Drug' is killer! Classic Jackyl, great radio-driving song. 'Get Mad At It' rocks hard. 'Just Like Negro' is classic jack-style as well.

The other tracks work too, I just see no point in mentioning every song. Cool attitude, lyrics and guitar driven songs. If you like them, just get it. Probably their best since the debut. And that is no joke. I own all their stuff, and most was hit or miss. This is 85% HIT! Good production and the guys sound fresh and revived. Much better than Relentless.

Another excellent 2010 release. Rock On Jackyl.
