Synopsis

Album Description
Judging by the model?s face on the front cover, we?d say, mission accomplished! This is another one of those impossibly romantic albums of orchestral music Jackie Gleason put out during the ?50s, and it?s one of his best?in fact, this one went to #8 on the charts in 1956! And we?ve dressed it up with no less than nine bonus tracks that were laid down right around the same time as the album sessions, seven of ?em unreleased! Another great 'Collectors? Choice Music' exclusive from The Great One, out January 13! Includes 'My Sin; Dancing in the Dark; It Was So Beautiful; You Call It Madness; Coquette; You and the Night and the Music; Did I Remember; Guilty; I?m Glad There Is You; You?ve Changed; All by Myself; She?s Funny That Way; You?re My Greatest Love; Take Me in Your Arms', and 'It?s the Talk of the Town'. Plus, the non-LP singles 'Autumn Leaves' and 'Oo! What You Do to Me', and the unreleased tracks 'Lullaby of the Leaves; I?ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm; The Third Man Theme; Sweet Georgia Brown; Five Foot Two, Eyes of Blue; September Song', and 'I Can?t Believe That You?re in Love with Me'.

CD Reviews

This CD might very well help change her mind!!!

"Music to Change Her Mind is an album chock full of deliciously romantic mood music based on the original Gleason formula: Bobby Hackett playing beautifully lyrical trumpet and cornet solos over a smooth, lush string orchestra. I could not imagine more perfect background music for romantic nights and intimate moments. My wife and I have been enjoying Gleason's music together for years; when that is, we can manage to get the kids out of the house for a few hours, light a candle or two, and uncork a nice bottle of wine.In some later releases, Gleason changed his original formula to include all sorts of other textures such as mandolins, brass, English horn, sax, and even a choir that never sings a word except "oooh". While these make for interesting listening, I personally do not find any of them nearly as romantic as the original formula, and I was delighted with this album for that very reason. Something to watch out for, though, is the batch of "previously unreleased" tracks included on the CD. They are more up-tempo big-band style selections, and while they make for nice happy listening; they are nothing like the dreamy, romantic portion of the CD. Whatever you do, don't play this CD in the "shuffle" mode in anticipation of a consistent, romantic musical backdrop. If you do, you'll be surprised the first time one of the "previously unreleased" tracks hits! It might actually "change her mind", and probably not in the way you were hoping for!!!Overall, though, this album is an absolute must have for lovers of easy listening and romantic music. I highly recommend it!!!"
