A refreshing approach to standards and more

"If you're a fan of Diana Krall or other adult contemporary artists, I strongly recommend that you give Jackie Allen a listen. Not only does she have a refreshing approch to standards, she actually comes up with plenty of good material other artists haven't discovered.The title track, "Which?" by Cole Porter is a thoroughly contemporary song about life choices. It's also a Cole Porter tune I've never heard before. Jackie's spin on it is totally convincing. Nor have I ever heard Kurt Weill's "Lost in the Stars." I recommend her take on Billy Strayhorn's "Daydream." The melody, lyrics and performance are completely bewitching.Jackie's versatility comes through in the deliciously playful "Doodlin'" and "Too Hot for Words."Give Jackie Allen a try. You won't be disappointed."
