But it's well worth it. With seasoned personnel in place, this outing takes more risks and provides better opportunities for Bernie Worrel and Vernon Reid to really take off. The Cream re-makes here are not nearly as objectionable or as jarring as the previous album. We're Going Wrong and I Feel Free are terrific although I'm not sure if the world really needs yet another version of Politician. The new compositions are mature and intricate and most of the material realy soars - with the band being well meshed, and very intense. Bruce's wildly eclectic taste may frustrate some, in the form of a cabaret number here or a vaguely post-Jobim do-dad there - but overall, this is a really solid, dense, thoughtful effort worth one's attention." "So They", "Follow", & "Kelly's Blues" are great opening tunes. The Cozy tribute is excellent as well. "Lost" is a good tune as well. My only downer thought is that he can really do without re-hashing old Cream tunes on every other solo album he puts out. We all know who you are. Leave perfection alone. If they're not perfect, then they are the next best thing."
