Synopsis

Album Description
J.P. Cormier has made his mark on the East Coast music scene as a phenomenal instrumentalist on fiddle, guitar, mandolin, and banjo. Now he turns in a stunning album of his own songwriting and singing that will prove that J.P. Cormier is a major Canadian talent. "Another Morning" resonates with the sounds and stories of J.P.'s Cape Breton roots and reveals his skill as a singer and songwriter of great depth and vision. From the title track and new single "Another Morning" to tributes to Cape Breton and its people to beautiful love songs to humorous send-ups of country music and brilliant instrumentals, this album shows off the many sides of this multi-talented artist. Produced by Paul Mills and Bill Garrett, the album includes appearances from musical friends Stewart McNeil of the Barra McNeils, Sylvia Tyson and Caitlin Hanford of Quartette, Hilda Chiasson-Cormier, Gervais Cormier, Curly Boy Stubbs, and many more.

CD Reviews

Great Stuff
S Ginn | Kirkland, WA | 12/15/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I usually don't write these reviews - but in this case, it's justified!I've had this CD for 2 years now and I find myself listening to it more and more. Strong, traditional voice - Songs are about love, work, the sea. Hot picker - and I mean hot!To me, this can stand with the greats in the folk world."

"My husband and I went all the way from California to Nova Scotia to the Stan Fest June 2001. Before we left we purchased two J.P. Cormier's CDs and we love his music... but he's even better in person. We're going back next year."
