Synopsis

Album Description
Truly a prodigy in every sense of the word, young Jamie Spratling, aka J Majik was uninspired by his school classes at the time and as a result turned to DJ-ing as a source of entertainment. He soon found himself pumping out pulse quickening break beat anthems at the tender age of 14 for Lemon D?s well respected Planet Earth imprint. A short year or two later found "Majik" with a handful of highly lauded underground smashes and as the youngest star in the world reknowned Metalheadz crew! His own imprint "Infrared" is a key component of the ever evolving drum and bass scene and has released jems by the genres biggest names including Goldie, Photek, John B., and Total Science. Now, Fabric Recordings proudly presents J Majik Fabriclive 13; a beautifully mixed, diverse foray into drum and bass. A wild, futuristic ride taken at break-neck speed, Fabriclive 13 showcases the skills and many sides of one of drum n bass?s most loved stalwarts. Featuring tracks from the the scene?s best and brightest including DJ Hype, Dillinja, and Peshay. Fabriclive 13 should not be missed. Get ready for the rewind!

CD Reviews

Good But Not Great Drum n' Bass
CloudMan | Vancouver, BC | 07/07/2007
(3 out of 5 stars)

"Don't even think about this album if you don't appreciate even a little drum n' bass. In regards to this genre of electronica, it is a fairly good album. However, the pace is a little too unrelenting for my taste. A couple of choice slower-tempo drum n' bass tracks interspersed in the set would have been a simple but effective way to add a little flavor and creativity to this album. Majik likes it quick and this album is high energy all the way through from start to finish."

"Great CD!!! I love how he mixes so headstrong into tracks. Truely a must have"
Not bad, but not spectacular.

"OK, so I read on here that some thought this was the best FabricLive mix, drum-and-bass-wise... while J Majik is a legend of the scene, still an awesome producer, and a dancefloor-conscious DJ, I wouldn't go so far as to say this mix is awesome... because it isn't. Of course, that's just my opinion. I think the High Contrast and Marcus Intalex FabricLive CDs are far better, not only in the selection, but the presentation of the tracks. No disrespect to Jamie at all, because it's a very high energy selection, and if that's your thing, great. You'll absolutely love this CD. Drum and bass has also made progress since the timing of this recording. All in all, a good CD for those who can appreciate drum and bass, but this wouldn't be a CD I would use to introduce someone to drum and bass. 'Nuff said."
