SLEEPER HIT OF 1996

Nice little overlooked slice of the teen pie
Glen Zimmerman | West Bumblefuch, USA | 04/15/2008
(4 out of 5 stars)

"PG-rated songs, nicely polished production, and J'son's loud, clear singing voice make for a pleasant listening experience here. "It Should've Been Me" is a smooth, New Edition-style ballad, and on the album's most creative song "Radio" (not to be confused with the LL Cool J hit), J'son, upon hearing his own song on the radio, calls the station and gives a shout-out to Brandy, saying "I wish she'd be down with me" (a reference to Brandy's hit "I Wanna Be Down"). One bad spot: An extremely uninspired cover of Hall & Oates "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)." The background sounds exactly the same, and he doesn't get creative with his enunciation of the lyrics, either. Aside from that, this album definitely worth hearing."
