Synopsis

Product Description
I seem to have accumulated a foot-high stack of CDs people have given me or sent me, and I'm listening to them as I get a chance, mostly while working. My favourite from the last few days is definitely ist's King Martha, which you can hear bits of at www.myspace.com/ist. Smart lyrics, catchy tunes, and a nice, friendly website into the bargain. â?? Neil Gaiman (www.neilgaiman.com)... "Every song off their new album tends to wind up stuck in your head. I'm not sure if it's completely because of the lyrics, or if it's more likely the fault of the catchy horn and guitar riffs. But for whatever reason, these guys are addictive.â?? â?? www.youaintnopicasso.com... â??If you want a soundtrack for doing nothing during the summer this year, ist should be right at the top of your shopping list. 8/10â?? â?? www.atomicduster.com... â??The perfect setting for listening to this album would be sitting on a wide windowsill, looking out at the world (in my mind it's autumn), contemplating what happened to the plans you had for yourself and when exactly you grew up, large mug of tea or glass of wine in hand, preferably on a Sundayâ??. â?? www.jukebo.cx... â??It's difficult to understand why record companies are continuously plundering the butt-end of the musical spectrum with rehashes (and poor ones in most cases) of generally the boy and girl group (they're not bands 'cause they don't play) idealism. Here, and in a lot more cases, there's something a lot more interesting. The songs weave through moods and textures beautifully, with some immaculate performances and arrangements. There are tinges of ska, country, music hall, and almost everything thrown inâ??. â?? www.projectmarv.com... â??Literate, thoughtful musicâ?¦ adventurousâ?¦ when (ist) are up there, in a year or two, collecting their Mercury Music Prize, I shall be sitting at home, thinking, I always knew theyâ??d be big.â?? â?? Iain Banks
