CD Reviews

Fast and thematic techno, like a classical symphony on speed
08/12/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is the one CD to take with you to that desert island. Its like classical music kept evolving and took up the new instrumentation. Themes play out all the way through this CD and climax in the 2nd to last track. The final track is a cooldown, reduced to a single theme. Leeb is a jerk but he's a master musician and doesn't make the mistake of singing to ruin this complex instrumental and sample laden work. Good for driving fast, good for hiking in the woods when you don't want to stop. Good for trancing, good for manic energy and chores. After a few listens it flows into one huge surge of energy. I bought this when it came out in 1992 and still listen to it from time to time. The layers run up to 12 or 14 deep in places, the music is geometrically complex so you don't get bored hearing the same loops but instead each part gets more complex as it goes. This may be the height of techno."
The softer side of FLA

"Following up their self-titled debut, Intermix takes it to a whole new level with the release of Phaze Two. Each song could be considered a shorter CD themselves. Layer after layer of music and samples are mixed and remixed. The result is listening to a song many times and still picking out a new melody here or a new sample there. Each song has a natural progression to it. At certain points something changes. At the end they bring it all back for a type of finale for each song. Any techno fan should own this Cd; FLA fans expecting typical FLA should stay away. Bottom line: this is a great CD and if you can get your hands on it GET IT."
"Yo, Check this out, HOMEBOY!"

"LET ME TELL YOU IM ADDICTED TO INDUSTRIAL MUSIC.
I cant go anywhere with out this CD. INTERMIX's Phase Two is the best 90's Goth/Techno/INDUSTRIAL CD ever made. Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber truly know how to make dance music. This CD and TACTICAL NEURAL IMPLANT are a must have. At first you might think the samples are funny, but just listen to the dance beat of all of these songs. I wish everybody can love and appreciate INTERMIX for the talent that will never be matched.
THIS IS INDUSTRIAL MUSIC FOR INDUSTRIAL DANCERS
THIS CD WILL LEAVE YOU WANTING A SIMILAR CD BUT YOU WILL NEVER FIND ONE UNLESS YOU BUY "FOREVER FREESTYLE" WHICH IS NOT NEARLY AS GOOD.

Keeping INDUSTRIAL MUSIC ALIVE.
