Synopsis

Album Description

2007 reissue of this 1982 compilation featuring eight bonus tracks. Inner City Unit (ICU) was a British Punk/hard edged Space Rock band fronted by ex-Hawkwind founder Nik Turner on saxophone with Trev Thoms (guitar), Dead Fred (Keyboards), Baz Magneto(Bass), and Mick Stupp or Dino Ferari on drums. This original line-up produced two albums, Passout and The Maximum Effect, before releasing this compilation of out-takes and demos called in 1982. This is also the year that Turner returned to Hawkwind taking Dead Fred with him, marking the end of the original ICU line-up. Anagram.

"A decent...'okay' compilation CD of the Inner City Unit's work. Most recent reissue tags on eight {8} bonus tracks to lure us to buy it and toss out our old copies. 'Punkadelic' appears to be a bunch of unreleased versions of Inner City Unit standards, like "Watching The Grass Grow", the always wacky "Space Invaders" and "Cars Eat Auto Face". Are they kidding with "Disco Tango"? Pretty much aimed toward the completists."
