CD Reviews

The Blueprint
Markus Garcia | Chicago, IL USA | 03/04/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Influential. Before the refused and at the drive in was what everyone praised came the almighty ink and dagger. They had the whole rock and roll guitar riffs in hardcore music thing well crafted. Thrashguitars, haunting synth (in some songs), corpse painted faces (like death metal stars cradle of filth), lyrics that tell an intresting story, high vocals and a front man that is is just as (in)famous as ian mackaye. Remember that story of someone throwing yogurt at earth crisis? That was Sean McCabe. They wore facepaint during this incarnation of the band. They thought they were vampires. They caused a lot of trouble. The music in the end is why they will be remembered."
Brilliant hardcore

"I listen to mostly indie/prog rock, and Ink and Dagger are an exeption in my collection. This album is pure essence of hardcore...the guitars are so rough and the vocals so abrasive it just comes around that they are amazing musicians. After listening to I&D half my music is unlistenable, so I just hit the repeat button. Truly beautiful violence."
