(My sister is now enjoying my old one!) A fantastic collaboration between Egyptian Baligh Hamdi, who composed and orchestrated the music, and Indian sitar player Magid Khan. This is music in the "neo-classical" Egyptian tradition, originally recorded in 1980, before the days of rai. Hamdi's history as a composer includes writing for the great Oum Khalthoum, as well as other Egyptian singing stars of the mid-twentieth century. However, this recording is purely instrumental, and it works. Definitely worth many listens!"
