Album Description The debut solo record from former Alaska! and Lowercase frontman and current member of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. It's meant for the late night vibe or the early morning fear. Inspired by Buddy Holly demos recorded in NYC shortly before his death, early Joe Meek's recording of "I Hear A New World", John Fahey's "The Yellow Princess", Sylvia Plath's Ariel poems, Truman Capote's first book "Other Voices, Other Rooms", Swedish artist Hilma af Klint, and a collection of eastern classical instrumental records of past masters that Wasif inherited from his father. CD ReviewsCd should be sold with complimentary hookah Maxine | Vancouver, Canada | 04/26/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "I first heard Imaad Wasif last night when he opened for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs in Vancouver. For the first artist in a line up of three, Imaad blew me away. Maybe it is just my current phase of lounging to Thievery Corporation and Fiona Apple, but the soft, sometimes ethnic/emo guitar coupled with soothing and passionate vocals made me fall instantly in love! The songs are reminiscent of some far away middle eastern love making session while maintaining a slight edge of structure and main streamedness as not to be too abstract or confusing. I loved his soul and the sound of his voice. This cd will be perfect for smoking on the beach this summer."
