Not Your Usual McNabb
06/20/2000
(3 out of 5 stars)

"Fans of Ian McNabb will be surprised at this effort, but also very pleased. The CD is almost completely acoustic and has none of the edge and pop riffs McNabb has on other solo works. The only remnants from his Icicle Works days on this CD is McNabb's familiar voice. The lyrics are pure McNabb, however; tongue firmly in cheek. The music is very mellow. Slip your cardigan on and pour a tall glass of brandy. True McNabbheads will love this one, though. It's just not what you would expect. Those looking for a continuation of Icicle Works might be better off skipping this one and buying his other solo CD's like Merseybeast and Head Like A Rock. Both are awesome with plenty of great songs you will want to play loud."
