CD ReviewsGreat Performance... SACD remaster reveals beautiful details Ethan E. Matthes | 10/12/2007 (3 out of 5 stars) "I've owned the original cd recording of this outstanding "Rite of Spring" performance for years. The SACD-2 remaster is slightly more detailed and gentler to the ears.
The second half of the disk holds Stravinky's Firebird Suite. In the CD version, I felt the performance was professional but forgettable. However, the SACD-2 reveals beautiful inner details and including playful piano work and lush string section. Now the Firebird interpretation and performance makes perfect sense. It's very beautiful. I'm editing my review: 5 stars performance and 4 stars for SACD Sound. Strongly recommended!!!" |
