Synopsis

Product Description
Sensual to the ear, this famous slow movement is uniquely arranged for voices and piano with a text by Verlaine
Pianist will be Anna Markland, the second ever BBC Young Musician of the Year (from 1982) who has run a parallel career as a singer with I Fagiolini since its inception.

Based on the famous and influential French food book Physiologie du goût (The Physiology of Taste) by Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin. Published in December 1825, two months before his death, it has not been out of print since.

An outlandish (part-erotic) look at the French obsession with food:
9 ½ weeks meets Jacques Brel meets Raymond Blanc.

Written in 1953 but unperformed/recorded in any country since.

Offers advice on (1) how to pace yourself at a meal (2) the erotic properties of the black truffle (3) problematic effects of food on the digestion? and much more...

The musics rich 12-voice palette owes something to Poulenc but as much to a Parisian cafe.

Consume and enjoy...
