CD ReviewsPretty good electro-pop 06/29/2004 (4 out of 5 stars) "I Am the World Trade Center's third album "Cover Up" is the first one I have purchased. I'm a pretty big fan of retro-sounding electro (Adult., Miss Kittin, Mount Sims, etc.), so the instrumental backdrop of this album was right up my alley. IATWTC's sound is definitely more rooted in pop music - I would say they have something to offer for fans of Saint Etienne, but with a more blatant electronic sound. My only complaints about the album is that a select few of the songs don't seem developed enough. Not to take away from the really fantastic tracks ("No Expectations," "The Cover Up," "Love Tragedy," "Silent Film Stars") - which really justify the purchase of this album. The singing kind be a little grating when listening to the entire thing in one sitting - Amy Dykes can carry a tune, but I think her voice is a little bit abrasive (not as "pretty" as, say, Saint Etienne's Sarah Cracknell), and it would have been better to place the vocal track a little further in the background.Sadly, weeks before the release of this album, Dykes was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, and the band is on hiatus until she recovers. Get well, Amy!This is a very good album in the electro genre. Fans of this music should definitely check out this band."
