Synopsis

Album Description
Chicago's Hush Sound is a much needed breath of fresh air from the monotony of today's oversaturated music scene. They offer something different. This indie-folk-pop-rock band spurts out songs full of catchy guitar riffs, uplifting piano parts, and layered male/female vocals. Their style is hard to pinpoint, but it's original and imaginative. Influences range from Paul Simon to The Shins to The Format, and many more.

CD Reviews

Kind of like Straylight Run, only a bit poppier...

(5 out of 5 stars)

"First off, this is a phenomenal debut album. Catchy, catchy melodies, great music, it just makes you feel good.

These guys are of course gonna be compared to Straylight Run(not a bad thing) because there's both a girl and a guy singer(sometimes together on a few songs) and there's a lot of piano throughout the album.

What sets this band apart though is that they're insanely likeable. They're not as deep as Straylight, but it doesn't matter. You see their pictures on MySpace, you see how great they treat their fans and you want them to succeed. And they will. They have a happy-go-lucky-ness about themselves and their music that's just infectious and refreshing.

Check out The Hush Sound, they're gonna be huge."

"Pick this CD up now!!!! It really is an amazing product from an up and coming chicago band, and it doesn't sound like all of the other monotonous garbage that gets radio air time.

I don't think there is a single track on this CD that I don't enjoy. My favorites are "City traffic puzzle," "Unsafe Safe," "Echo," and "Carry Me Home."

Their CD is definately one that you will not put down any time soon."
One of my favorites...

"The Hush sound are appealing because they are truly unique. When pressed, I cannot think of a single band to really compare their sound to. The one comparison I can make is to early U2. The music of the two bands is not alike, but the combination of vibrant youthful energy and rapidly emerging talent are apparent in both "So Sudden" and U2's debut, "Boy". I also see the same glimmer of future greatness. The same anticipation, the feeling that these four on on the brink of something bigger than they can imagine. In the coming years, as they learn to focus this energy, I know that worldwide success will follow.

"So Sudden" is best described as a wholly enjoyable album. While the themes of the songs can be sad or sullen, the music itself is catchy and delightful. Even the most bashful will catch themselves singing along with the lyrics, humming the tunes long after the stereo has been shut off.

While I have affection for all the tracks, I am very paritial to Greta's songs. Her voice, lyrics, and piano work take us on a journey through her soul. "Elieen" is particularly interesting because of the contrast between the mourning lyrics and the soaring music.

I also love "The Market". It is sweet and strange and the most original and unique song I've heard in a long time. It makes me smile without fail."
