Howie Beck is a Canadian singer-songwriter whose debut release was recorded in his bedroom studio, self-financed and released via his own website. Hollow is a great deal more than mere vanity publishing, however. Howie Beck's songs initially seem like shy alt. country creatures. There is a string-soaked lushness and melodic twist reminiscent of Brian Wilson or Paul McCartney at his best. Stunning debut! 1999 release.

"I have only downloaded two tracks off of his website, but they really are good. I've been meaning to pick up the CD. Great lo-fi acoustic stuff done by someone with a genuine passion for it that is contagious. Here's hoping that someone somewhere reads this review and checks this guy out. He deserves all the attention he can get."
