CD ReviewsMelodic hard rock from Tony O'Hora Justin Gaines | Northern Virginia | 04/29/2008 (4 out of 5 stars) "Eternal Infinity was the debut (and to date only) release by Horakane, the side project of former Praying Mantis vocalist Tony O'Hora and his former Highwire colleague, guitarist Jamie Kane. Praying Mantis's Tino Troy also appears on the album.
I'm a fan of O'Hora's solo material, so I took to this album right away. This is a straightforward 80's style melodic hard rock album along the lines of Pretty Maids, TNT, Pink Cream 69, and Jorn. It's a heavy album (I'd probably call it metal), but it's melodic too. O'Hora's powerful vocals are perfectly matched by Kane's driving guitar riffs. My only gripe is that the production is not what it should be. The guitars are too loud and the vocals not loud enough. That's a relatively minor gripe, but compared to Magnus Karlsson's production on O'Hora's Escape into the Sun album, it stands out. If you're a Tony O'Hora fan (and if you're into melodic hard rock you should be), this is a definite winner. Fans of any of the bands I mentioned above should also enjoy Eternal Infinity. " |
