"I heard of the band because of the bassist, Jeff Pinkus, had some other things going on at the time and I was a huge fan of his former band the Buttole surfers. These true Texas gentlemen played the roof off every joint I saw them in! I hate to pigeonhole music, but think if ZZ Top and Kiss played pure Texas roadhouse music! Good luck finding their first album "Honky", but you should definitely pick up "Balls Out Inn" on small stone records(a few of their labelmates may get you to tappin your toe if your not careful)And run, don't walk, if you get a chance to see them live. These boys know how to play their geetars and drink whiskey and will show you how livin is suppose to be done! "I bought this disc at a show and it is great, but cannot hold a candle to the live act. Jeff Pinkus must have played a thousand shows in his life with the (...)Surfers and others, but the absolute glee on his and the rest of the band's faces was great to see. When so many acts just grind out their set and give some superficial "Thank you's" at the end, these guys were having a blast. So did I. This is great "Southern-fried" guitar rock at it's nastiest."
