"These appear to be recordings made from VHS copies of the two films represented. "Holiday in Mexico" has the same background ring as my MGM copy of the video. The selections are poorly edited with fade-ins and fade-outs to include unwanted dialogue. You could probably do just as well transfering the sound from your own VHS copy to an audio cassette or CD burner. I purchased this CD with the hopes of getting a professional copy of the never-before-released "Holiday in Mexico". The results were very disappointing. This is not an official MGM soundtrack version. If it's the "Holiday" songs you're interested in, you can get the Jane Powell numbers in a new release by Flare Records. Miss Powell recorded all of her solos for Columbia in the same time period as the release of the movie. The name of the CD is A SONG IN THE AIR. It has all 16 songs she recorded for Columbia plus three songs from "Nancy Goes to Rio." This is a real serendipity for Jane Powell fans. The "Weekend in Havanah" numbers had the same problem. I do commend the producers, however, for making even these lesser quality recordings available to us. At least somebody is aware that these wonderful movie musicals have commercial potential and a following that would enjoy more of these efforts. Are you listening MGM, Warner Brothers, Twentieth Century Fox and all of the other great producers of these timeless classics?"
