Spanning the Entire Flight

"I've long been a fan of all things Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship/Starship, but I've also been aware of a definite two-camp war among their fans: Marty Balin vs. Mickey Thomas. I don't feel the need to choose sides. I think all eras of JA/JS/S produced great music, and the unique vocal style of Grace Slick ties the whole collection together. Added to which, this is (or, I guess I should say, was) a dirt cheap price for a two-disc, 35-song collection spanning more than 20 years, from the Woodstock days of "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit" to the middle years of "Ride the Tiger" and "Miracles" to the hit-laden period of "Sara" and "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now."
Yes, "We Built This City" has aged very poorly, but if you set aside your Balin/Thomas differences and check this out, I'm willing to bet you'll make some pleasant discoveries on both sides of the fence. After all, isn't that what the authors of "Volunteers" would want? Peace."
