Great compositions, great interpretations!

"If you like Hindemith, you should have this CD. The sonatas may not be the most important works compared to his oeuvre as a whole, but I like especially the 'Sonata for B-Trumpet and Piano' (from 1939). I am no musician, but it reminds me in a certain way of Miles Davis' style (especially the third movement 'Trauermusik', which means 'mourning music'). I guess it's probably the almost complete absence of vibrato in the trumpet. However, Paul Hindemith is not mentioned in Miles' autobiography, although I find it hard to believe that Miles never heard Hindemith's sonata."
