Synopsis

Album Description
Halifax based The Heavy Blinkers have been described as Bacharach meets Brian Wilson. The Heavy Blinkers list both Wilson and Bacharach as influences, as well as Serge Gainsbourg, Bob Dylan, Phil Spector, and The Bee Gees. As on their first three releases, The Night And I Are Still So Young continues the tradition of lush, introspective pop. Living on the East Coast of Canada, the Heavy Blinkers experience an average of 43 snow days a year. It is in this time, that songwriters Jason MacIsaac and Andrew Watt lock themselves up in their respective houses and write their pop masterpieces. The rest of their time is spent touring Canada, the UK, and Japan, where they have found much success. The Night And I Are Still So Young marks the Blinker?s debut on Cooking Vinyl USA, but the members of this young band are no novices, having released three previous albums.

CD Reviews

HOLLAND ERA BEACH BOYS meets SURFS UP ERA BEACH BOYS

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Long considered one of the best pop bands in Canada, the Heavy Blinkers have reached a new maturity with this stunningly orchestrated pop masterpiece. Two years in the making, "The Night And I Are Still So Young" consolidates the nocturnal orchestrations of the Flaming Lips and Mercury Rev and grafts them onto material akin to 70's era Beach Boys, Harry Nilsson or Randy Newman. This album finds the five Blinkers collaborating with over 25 auxilliary players to help create a symphonic tapestry that is as rich and dense as you're likely to hear this year."
