Haydn Would Probably Yawn

"Sym. 101 is enjoyable and I would recommend this recording EXCEPT for the first Mvt. of the "London" 104. Yes the piece does begin with an adagio, but the rest of the Mvt. shouldn't continue with it! This symphoney is one of my fav's, yet Tate's rendition let me down and put me to sleep. No sparkle and certainly no wit. Good thing this CD was only 6 bucks. I recommend Georg Solti's recording on the London label coupled with sym. 95. Sorry to be so negative, but Haydn and listeners certainly deserve better!"
