Synopsis

Album Description
HarpSong is a musical duo featuring artists Karen Almquist, harp and soprano, and Jennifer Grady, flute, which is based in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. "Sean's Dance" is a collection of Jennifer and Karen's favorite Celtic-inspired pieces performed on flute and harp. The recording is peaceful and soothing to the soul, yet lively and uplifting at times. The CD also includes three original pieces written by Jennifer Grady. The title track "Sean's Dance", featuring two flutes and piano, was written in honor of her 13 year old son who was born with Down Syndrome. "Sweet Molly's Lament" and "Soaring", along with "Sean's Dance", are all published by ALRY Publications in Charlotte, N.C. Joining Jennifer and Karen on the CD for selected tracks are Andrea Niemiec on the string double bass and Terry Ostergaard on the bodhran. The final track, a moving, yet peaceful rendition of "A Gaelic Blessing" by John Rutter, features the beautiful soprano voice of Karen Almquist with harp accompaniment.

Sean's Dance

(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is a lovely CD by Jenny Grady on Flute and Karen Almquist on Harp. I listen to it when I want to be bathed in beautiful music. Their other CD, HarpSong Noel, is already a Christmas favorite. We played it during dinner and to add a little class to the percussion of tearing gift wrap on Christmas morning!"

"This is a fabulous CD. Jennifer Grady's original compositions are full of celtic influences, as is much of the CD. The arrangements are fresh and wonderful to listen to. The performances and production quality are both excellent. You'll love this CD!"
