CD Reviews

Great soundtrack
C. P. Mingues | Denver, CO United States | 01/26/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"You don't have to understand the words to the songs. If you know the story, then you know enough about what is going on. It's a beautiful soundtrack. I would love to hear the English version with June Ritchie. I have a copy of the program, full of pics of Scarlett (blue eye shadow and all) and company. Very 1970's."
Not terrible... as you might expect
Theatre Queen | Los Angeles, CA USA | 04/30/2007

"I happen to have the London Cast Album (yes, album) of this show as well, and I saw the show in Los Angeles before it closed on it's way to B'way (with Lesley Anne Warren, Pernell Roberts, Udana Power [whatever happened to this talented singer/actress?], Thesesa Merritt. Sadly, it didn't work here, although the show was a HUGE hit in Japan and England. The music and lyrics are lovely - you can't tell on the Japanese CD - and it's a shame that after all these years that the London recording - with Harve Presnell and June Ritchie - has not been released on CD. When it is - if ever - I am certain it will be snapped up like... like... like it deserves to be. The choral work on the Japanese recording (especially "Bonnie Gone") is glorious and the orchestrations are quite lush. It's a shame the singing in Japanese, while lovely and not at all nasal, gives me a headache."
