"I have never really warmed up to many performances by Seiji Ozawa, but this one is fabulous! I wish he would record more 20th century music (his advocacy of Takemitzu is stunning!). Panufnik's Symphony reminds me of the infamous Gorecki 3rd in its stillness. There are only two movements, and in the last there is a forward momentum that is irrisistible. The Sessions is one of his late compositions and is lean and mean. There are moments of repose, though, but the thorniness still remains. Excellent sound quality on one of Hyperion's first releases. You've come a long way, baby!"
