Hardline was formed when brothers Johnny (vocals) and
Joey (guitar) Gioeli, originally from the band Brunette,
teamed up with Journey/Bad English guitarist Neal
Schon. The original plan was for Neal to produce
Hardline, but he was having so much fun that he decided
to join the band as soon as he left Bad English.
Hardline s debut album Double Eclipse was released on
MCA in 1992 with two singles that entered the Billboard
Top 30 and the band went on to tour with such heavy
hitters as Van Halen and Mr. Big.
Disbanding after the grunge invasion, Johnny Gioeli
started collaborating with the German guitar player Axel
Rudi Pell.
Hardline reunited with a new lineup after Frontiers
Records came into business in the early 00 s, releasing
II and later Leaving the End Open.
When singer Johnny Gioeli heard some demos prepared
by the Italian producer / keyboard player Alessandro Del
Vecchio (Edge of Forever) he felt that the songs were
finally what he was looking for for a new Hardline record.
So a new lineup was put together and the resulting album
Danger Zone, is certainly the band s strongest album
since their legendary debut.
