Synopsis

Album Description
2009 four CD set, the fourth volume in this popular series. Hardcore Underground 4 raises the bar beyond even the standards set by the last entry in the series. Joining series stalwarts Brisk, Marc Smith, Al Storm, Fracus & Darwin is Radio 1's Kutski, on hand to further cement an already revered reputation with his own slant on genre mashing. The icing on the proverbial cake is supplied with a purist freeform mix turned in by Oli G & Lost Soul filling a chasm in the international market for higher BPM Hard Dance and Psytrance. The album is comprised of material from a whole host of new producers alongside their household name mentors and features exclusive productions and remixes from Recon, Gammer, SL2, Anne Savage, Kevin Energy, Scott Brown, CLSM, Joey Riot, D:Code, Sharkey, Endymion, Cube::Hard, Billy Bunter, Technikore, Bang! and many others.

Mind Blowing Freeform 2 the Core
decepticon | 07/23/2010
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is the best freeform I've ever heard in my life. How they come up with this stuff is beyond me. Slammin bass, heavy stompin beats all the way through, catchy rhythms, mind bending effects, everything you would ever want from hardcore/freeform music. Hardcore Underground 4 has even outdone the last one which I didn't think was possible, I have the entire series, and each one has gotten better and better, what's next?

Fracus and Darwin's Mix: Some heavy riffs in 'Rock Ya Body', 'I Know Where I Stand' has that euphoric feel to it, and 'The Last Goodbye' is a floorfiller with pounding bass and catchy female vocals. This is one of my favorite mixes of all time!

Brisk and Marc Smith's Mix: Starts off with a remix of 'Eternity', 'Hookie Mammoth' is an all out stomper, 'Rudeboy Sounds' will take you back to the old skool, you'll recognize this one from the Happy 2b Hardcore Series and from Brisk's HappyHardcoreFoundation 3, if you were listening to this music when they were released, you will really appreciate the remixes of these epic tracks. 'Epic Riff' and 'Daybreaker' are stompin all the way through. Excellent mix!

Al Storm and Kutski's Mix: The track 'Old Skool' is not old skool by any means, it's unbelievable speed and catchy synths will get you hooked on it, it flows right into 'Feel Free', which is an old skool style track and full of energy. Then one of my personal favorites, a remix of 'Virtual Dreams' (off of Bonkers 5) called 'Virtual Nightmare', can't get enough of that one either. Nice effects in 'Ruff Beats', then some insane scratching in 'Glitterstep', and ends with some gabber, 'Abduction' is another fave.

Oli G and Lost Soul's Mix: Not a whole lot of lyrics on this disc, but is still an excellent disc, some catchy melodies and beats in there, heavy riffs in 'Sick Seduction' and 'Lotek' is another good one which you may have heard on Freeformation.

All four discs are great!! It doesn't get any better than this, this is freeform at it's very best, 100% recomended, the best I've ever heard, a must have for any hardcore collection!!

Hardcore 4 life =)"
