Synopsis

Album Description
One of the most hotly anticipated local recordings this fall is Happy Apples sophomore set, Part of the Solution Problem. The funky, explosive, avant-jazz trio is now aligned with a real label, No Alternative Records. And theyve got packaging and sound quality to rival any techno crew, plus some great special guests: Bill Carrothers (Fender Rhodes Piano) and Greg Lewis (trumpet). Thats not to say that local drum god and raconteur Dave King is taking the bands commercial saga too seriously. Still, this weekends official CD release party should be a blast and a half for thinking scenesters. -Tom Surowicz, Minneapolis Star Tribune

CD Reviews

Explosive, imaginative and refreshing.

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Happy Apple's second release is by far as remarkable as their first release, Blown Shockwaves and Crash Flow. It captures, almost to the full extent, all the aspects of a live performance. Should you happen to see them live, you'll know what I mean. If you have the opportunity, do not pass it up.This music allows you to explore the deepest and most distant dimensions of jazz. Mark my word, when these three get together, they become musical geniuses. If you like this disc, be sure to check out their other recordings: Body Popping/Moon Walking/Top Rocking, Please Refrain From Fronting, and Youth Oriented. If you're a fan of Happy Apple, be sure to check out The Bad Plus! You will like them as well."
