"This cd is a reissue of Roger Norrington and his London classical players 1996 recording of Handel's famous water music coupled with the fireworks music.It is without a doubt one of the very best period performances of this great music and is superbly recorded.An Amazon music critic who reviewed the original issue of this disc gave a low opinion and remarked that the performance is scrappy.Having just listened to the disc i can't believe we have heard the same recording.This is probably the best account of Handel's water music on period instruments i have heard .It certainly stands up well to Gardiner and it beats Hogwood,Pinnock,Koopman,Mallon,Lamon and Robert King on Hyperion.I find most of the tempi well judged and the playing by the London Classical Players is of the highest standard.Everybody has their own idea of how this wonderful music should be interpretated but i think this cd will satisfy the vast majority of period instrument fans."
